Old Police Station
Accommodation, Arts, & Crafts
What is The Old Police Station: Arts, Crafts, & Experiences all about?
When Ziggy (Dad) and Emma (I) made the move back to Cornwall, we wanted to get back to doing all of the things we love doing.
Ziggy has been a cabinet maker, restorer, luthier, and interior designer for the past 50 plus years but hasn’t had much time to do some of the other arts that he so loves and at which he is very gifted.
He has also enjoyed lecturing in the past and I have been very keen for him to share his knowledge, skills, and experiences of a trade that is disappearing, at least in the sense of a truly ‘handmade’ craft using traditional tools and no machinery.
Emma has an eclectic background and career. Starting as a musician and art historian, then completely altering course into psychology, after a number of life changing events.
I have been working in mental/emotional health for over a decade now, but have recently returned to my arts and crafts pursuits and interests, following the move and a need for a more calm way of life.
I have been teaching in the field of psychology/peer coaching for a number of years and I also run Launceston Folk Club, putting on large and small scale events in Launceston and other parts of Cornwall and I run Wreckers Radio supporting Cornwall and Devon based independent musicians and grassroots venues. You can find details and upcoming events at: Wreckers Music
We have hosted musicians such as Fairport Convention, Gigspanner, Phil Beer, Steve Knightley, Christine Collister, Chris While & Julie Matthews, Martin Carthy, Miranda Sykes, Bob Fox, and many more and many of them have stayed here, in the Police Cells! See the Wreckers Music events page to see if anyone is playing locally during your stay!
We will always recommend other local businesses and services when you come and stay with us, to offer the broadest range of products, services, and experiences possible!
