Renovating the Old Police Station
Find out what we have been up to …..
History
Our home was first built in 1886 as the County Police Station and remained in service for 90 years, including housing the Devon & Cornwall constabulary between 1967 & 1977 when it was outgrown. Prior to this, prisoners were held in the castle gates.
In 1977 it was sold to a firm of solicitors and then to the Royal British Legion in 2013 and in 2021, we bought it and gained permission for residential use.

With Dad’s amazing gifts and talents as a cabinet maker, designer, and restorer (among other things!), we set to work…
Renovating the Old Police Station
Our adventures began two years earlier and it has been quite a journey!

Whilst pondering the meaning of life during the upheavals of 2020, we decided we would just go for it.
Then began the painstaking journey of selling two houses and then finding somewhere to live in Cornwall during a time when it seemed like the whole world wanted to move to Cornwall…..
