Old Police Station

Arts, Crafts, & Experiences

What is The Old Police Station: Arts, Crafts, & Experiences all about?

When Ziggy (Dad) and Emma (I) made the move back to Cornwall, we wanted to get back to doing all of the things we love doing.

Ziggy has been a cabinet maker, restorer, and interior designer for the past 50 plus years but hasn’t had much time to do some of the other arts that he so loves and at which he is very gifted.

He has also enjoyed lecturing in the past and I have been very keen for him to share his knowledge, skills, and experiences of a trade that is disappearing, at least in the sense of a truly ‘handmade’ craft using traditional tools and no machinery.

Emma has an eclectic background and career. Starting as a musician and art historian, then completely altering course into psychology, after a number of life changing events.

I have been working in mental/emotional health for over a decade now, but have recently returned to my arts and crafts pursuits and interests, following the move and a need for a more calm way of life.

I have been a teacher in the fields of psychology for a number of years and want to incorporate these skills into our work at the Old Police Station.

Over the coming weeks and months, we will be adding various products and services to include:

  • Furniture (including bespoke pieces)
  •
  • Painting/ Drawing and framing
  •
  • Household items (eg cushions, bags, mirrors, & storage)
  •
  • Itinerary building for guests on holiday
  •
  • Themed tours – eg Arthurian Cornwall, Sacred Sites
  • Workshops – including marquetry, joinery, working with wood, wellness
  •
  • Groups & Seminars related to the above
  •
  • Luthier – guitar building
  •
  • Letter cutting – stone & wood

We are so excited about what is to come and there are many more things besides. We will always recommend other local businesses and services to offer the broadest range of products, services, and experiences possible!

We are even planning a novel set in the Old Police Station and surrounding areas.
